PREVIEW: BACK ON TRACK STAGE 4
Indiana's coronavirus reopening plan nears a new phase.
Back on Track Indiana

Back on Track Indiana is nearing Stage 4, which is set to begin Friday, June 12. With that comes an update to many of the guidelines and restrictions associated with Gov. Eric Holcomb's phased approach to reopening the state after coronavirus-related shutdowns. Here are some notes on Stage 4 as it relates to the tourism industry.

  • Face coverings: Recommended
  • Travel restrictions: None
  • Social gatherings: Up to 250 people

Retail stores and malls can return to full capacity in Stage 4 with social distancing measures in place. Restaurants can move to 75 percent capacity and open bar seating at 50 percent. Bars and night clubs can open at 50 percent capacity while cultural, entertainment and tourism sites can reopen.

With that in mind, we're excited to soon welcome back some of our attractions. The History Museum and Studebaker National Museum will reopen June 14. Potawatomi Zoo plans to reopen to the public June 19. Four Winds Casino South Bend is reopening June 15.

FOUR WINDS FIELD HOSTS AMERICAN CORNHOLE LEAGUE

Live sports made an unexpected return to The Bend last week. The American Cornhole League collaborated with VSBM to bring one of its qualifying events to Four Winds Field and the 1st Source Bank Performance Center.

Fifty competitors participated in singles and doubles competition. All players were monitored and screened for coronavirus, maintained social distancing and wore face coverings. It resulted in 53 room nights and four hours of live coverage last Saturday on ESPN. VSBM put together a 30-second commercial to spotlight the destination for the broadcast. It ran on multiple occasions.
